Kia ora whānau
Already another year has flown by – and a much more settled one for those of us in Canterbury! The year gone has been one of planning and re-structuring for us at Ōnuku. Our portfolio management system is well into operational mode and we already have some exciting developments within our rūnanga for 2013. At the end of the year we will see George Tikao step down as our chairperson, although he assures us he will maintain his strong interest in the incorporated society! Many, many years (17) of blood, sweat and tears, certainly have not gone unnoticed uncle – another few years and you might even get a gold watch! Manawa Hou

Two of our rakatahi attended Manawa Hou at the beginning of the last school holidays. Both Zane Houlahan and Te Anawa Waireti-Rangi thoroughly enjoyed themselves and brought home with them increased confidence, and strengthened and renewed connections. Kā mate

George Tainui (Butch) Robinson was tragically taken from us on 21 April in a truck accident, Mareeba, Cairns, Australia. Loving son of Nancy and the late Francis Robinson, dearly loved husband of Betsy, and father of Cory and Danica. Treasured brother of all his siblings and precious uncle of his nieces and nephews.
